Kookaburras
Cockatoos
King Parrots
Pale Headed Rosellas
Magpies
These are the birds I have been blessed to share my space with this morning...in the space of only 2 hours. It's like they all got together last night and came up with a plan to turbo boost my gratitude for where I live today! I reckon they came up with a roster and are taking shifts to inject beauty into my 'office'.
First came the King Parrots - they are the click-bait, they hook me instantly and get my gratitude engine running. These birds are incredible and I find it impossible not to stop and admire them when I see them...so yeah, I get why the producers of this gratitude show decided to open with them.
Then came the Cockatoos - these guys haven't been in my office before...they were definitely rostered on second just in case I took the King Parrots for granted (we have been getting them almost daily lately). Ok guys, you've done your job...my attention is now on how fortunate I am to live among such beauty, as opposed to the work I was supposed to be doing.
Next the Rosella's...Totally distracted (from my work) now, I decide to get a little closer to the gorgeous creatures already mentioned by setting up my laptop on the deck. My efforts (not that it was much effort) are rewarded...I am joined by two glorious Pale Headed Rosella's - which I would have mistaken for escapee (big) budgies when I first moved here given the resemblance. These guys are a bit shy, we don't see them very often, so when we do, they stop us in our tracks. Their colours are stunning and yet again I am in awe of Mother Nature and her artistic hand.
To cap off the 2 hour show, which I am convinced was carefully choreographed to elevate my gratitude for where I live, they bring in the big guns...the Kookaburras. There is no bird that rivals the Kookaburra in my eyes. They just exude strength, power and beauty all at once. I am not totally sure why, but subconsciously I have decided that Kookaburras symbolise all that is good in my world. When we moved here, it was the Kookaburras that stopped me in my tracks. Perhaps it's because I had never been close enough to them before to realise their physical brilliance...their strong beak, their colouring that mirrors the contrast of the Australian bush landscape against the bright blue sky, and their fearless stature as they appear unphased by the mischievous flock of bombarding mickey birds.
I am SO grateful for where I live...well played 'Straya, well played
